Condition Monitoring
The right tool for systematic condition monitoring
Everything that turns is subject to wear. Although you can't escape wear, there is a lot you can do to recognize it and plan countermeasures in time, instead of suffering from unplanned shutdowns. Take advantage of the Siemens Condition Monitoring Systems.
CMS 1200: The Swiss Army Knife of Condition Monitoring
CMS 1200 is the systematic condition monitoring solution from Siemens. It consists of at least one SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU, one SM 1281 condition monitoring module, and the corresponding cables and vibration sensors for acquiring the relevant field data. It enables you to process a large amount of data from vibration sensors in your plant. The CMS 1200 analyzes this data and provides you with a continuous and accurate status of your equipment, telling you not only if there is a risk, but also exactly where the problem is. The CMS 1200 is also known as the Swiss Army knife of condition monitoring due to its high degree of flexibility in collecting, analyzing and transmitting condition data. It enables you to:
- Avoid production downtime
- Optimize service planning
- Reduce maintenance costs
Flexibility in data acquisition and collection
The direct connection to the SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU not only integrates the CMS 1200 into the TIA Portal (Totally Integrated Automation) and its engineering framework, but also brings a new level of flexibility:
- up to four IEPE vibration sensors can be connected to a module
- Up to eight additional analog inputs such as temperatures or pressures can be connected via the SIMATIC PLC.
- By connecting a separate speed channel per IEPE sensor, the CMS 1200 can monitor multiple systems simultaneously.
- By connecting up to seven SM 1281 units to an S7-1200 PLC, up to 28 IEPE sensors can be combined in a CMS 1200 setup.
- Up to eight aux inputs can now be displayed in the web server (since FW 3.4).
Customize data analysis to your needs
You can analyze sensor data using three different methods, depending on user preferences and machine and application requirements.
Parameter-based analysis: Easily check your plant visually for impending damage using a traffic light system.
Frequency-selective analysis: By looking at specific frequencies, you can even see what kind of damage might be present.
Expert analysis: Drivetrain Analyzer X-Tools lets you dive deeper into the data and obtain a freely configurable diagnosis.
The analyzed data can be visualized in a variety of ways: on the integrated web server, in TIA Portal, in Drivetrain Analyzer X-Tools, or in any cloud- or edge-based application.
CMS 1200 is part of Siemens Xcelerator
Thanks to its interoperable, flexible and open design, the CMS 1200 is an integral part of Siemens Xcelerator and the proven basis for many condition monitoring offerings worldwide.
Precise fault evaluation: Identify potential problems in your machine so that you can take appropriate action. Thanks to the high-frequency data that CMS 1200 can process, it is possible to pinpoint the fault in your drive train.
Continuous monitoring: With CMS 1200, you can monitor the status of your system in real time at any time.
Flexible, interoperable and open: Benefit from flexible communication: you can monitor any rotating equipment and easily integrate the corresponding condition KPIs into your preferred system. TIA Portal, SCADA, PLC, HMI, Edge, Cloud – anything is possible thanks to the OPC UA capabilities.
Scalable: You can easily expand your installation with additional modules or sensors. The advantage: you start your monitoring system with a low initial investment and expand it over the next few years.
