With a new manual indicator

Wika has relaunched its FRKPS chain hoist testing kit. The device measures force on slip clutches and electrical overload protection systems in industrial environments.

It comprises a load cell with chain adapters and an easy-to-use display unit featuring a new, modern design. To test a chain hoist, users attach the load cell—fitted with the appropriate adapters—to the chain. The unit is then pulled upwards along the chain against the underside of the hoist; once the chain is blocked there, the slip clutch or overload protection mechanism is triggered. Users can read the activation force directly from the display unit. If required, measurements can be saved and transferred to the included Wika software. Users can then generate an automated test report on a PC. This allows the annual inspection mandated by the EU Machinery Directive (or the EU Machinery Regulation, effective January 2027) to be completed with minimal effort and without the need for test weights.

The FRKPS is suitable for load ranges of 40 to 3,500 kg and offers high measurement accuracy of < ±0.5%. Designed as a shear beam load cell, the sensor ensures maximum resistance to parasitic forces and moments. It transmits measurement data via cable to the battery-powered handheld display unit. This unit features intuitive operation, a high sampling rate, a 13-hour battery life, and storage capacity for 30 million data points.

Thanks to centering sleeves in various sizes and chain adapters compatible with chain sizes ranging from 3 x 9 mm to 11 x 31 mm (per DIN ISO 606), the FRKPS is universally applicable. The kit is supplied in a modern carrying case.
